This award winning competition design houses four theaters; an opera house, a concert hall, a performance stage and an experimental, arena-style theater. A monumental stone colonnade and traditional, Chinese cornice work stylistically relate to the adjacent Palace of the People and honor its cultural context. The theaters are connected to a large, central atrium.

This Cultural Galleria is a welcoming and celebratory public art space which offers the flexibility to serve various functions. The contemporary, high-tech designs of the theaters contrast with the surrounding stone frame and provide architectural drama. The solution is rich, multi-faceted, and multi-dimensional. It incorporates grand traditional motifs and expresses them in wholly modern ways. Additionally, the design responds to the highest acoustical and performance standards.
