The Hotel Ibis Suwon Seoul has been developed in the commercial and industrial area of Suwon, close to the existing Samsung research and development centre and many other major businesses.
The Ibis is 13-stories above grade, 39,714 square meters and has 238 rooms. The hotel is part of a mixed-use development including retail, banquet facilities and a food court. A complete MEP system upgrade was performed. The most challenging aspects of this project was in maintaining the architectural integrity of the facade in spite of the reprogramming of the building’s interior and different window requirements. A fiber cement panel system was utilized on the facade to reduce the complexity of the different size openings and allow for visual interest.
The hotel was developed out of an existing commercial building in the heart of Suwon. The hotel features a contemporary design with advanced technologies, LCD screens in all rooms, large working desks and 24-hour reception. Guest rooms are located on five upper floors and the lobby, lounge, reception and administration areas are located on the ground floor. The Convention Hall is housed on the 2nd to 5th floors. A total of seven stories below grade provides the necessary 373-car parking.
